The Polyphonic Programmer can control up to eight Oberheim synthesizer expander modudules (SEMs). Oscillator, filter and envelope settings can be individually stored and then recalled from 16 memory programs. Any SEM VCO, VCF or VCA switched to "EXT" is under the control of the Programmer. The Programmer stores individual vibrato frequencies and modulation amounts. Each SEM can be selected to be controlled maually directly from the Programmer's front panel or controlled by the stored preset program settings.

Using an external device called the Oberheim Casstte Interface, stored preset programs can be off loaded onto standrard audio casstte tapes to make room in memory. Archived preset programs can be uploaded from cassette tapes.
